Beau Warrior readily justified 6/4 favouritism when winning the Christmas Party Packages Nursery Handicap at Dundalk this evening as the Ado McGuinness trained filly gained a second win at the venue this month.

The daughter of Declaration Of War won on handicap debut on November 7 and today easily defied a 6lbs ratings hike when beating Imposing Supreme by two and three parts of a length.

McGuinness later said “she's smart and I've always liked her and I thought she'd win a maiden when she ran early in the year but she disappointed. I don't know what was wrong with her that day.

“We knew she had ability and she did that easy. Even riding her at home, after she won here the last day, we knew she had improved.

“She was slow out the last day but she was smart tonight. She did it well and hopefully the handicapper won't kill her given that it's this time of the year rather than the summer.

“If someone came looking to buy her she'd be sold and if not she'll come back here and we'll find something similar again for her later in the year.

“She's a good smart filly and she has a nice page. The boys have been great and I think that's 29 winners we've had for them. They've been great supporters and nearly every horse they've bought they've been very lucky with me. Hopefully it will continue.

“Rory said she's very good over six (furlongs) and he thinks when she goes up over seven she could be better again.”
