Young Man looks promising in bumper

A Fine Young Man made most of the running to make a winning debut in the concluding bumper for Willie Mullins.

Patrick Mullins always had his mount to the fore and he stayed on well in the final furlong to assert for a four-length success. Seafield a half-brother to Joncol, showed promise on his debut when staying on into second.

The winner was recently purchased by Tom Doran, best known as owner of Dorans Pride.

"I'm 50 this year and my mother-in-law bought him for me," revealed Doran.

It was a double on the day for Mullins, who had struck earlier with Ballytrim in the feature event.

"It's a nice change of luck for Tom and it's his first horse with me," said Mullins.

"Patrick wanted to do that (make the running) as he said to me beforehand that he didn't think there would be much pace on. This horse will gallop all day.

"His dam is a half-sister to Strong Platinum and it's a nice pedigree. He'll probably go for a winners bumper and then next year go hurdling."
