FormscanBy Tom Weekes - SETTLE FOR BAY is a hopeful pick to win this good handicap. The Royal Hunt Cup winner hasn't won since that famous 2018 win, but his rating has fallen back to 82 (from a high of 107) in recent times and ran a solid enough race here recently. The runner-up in that recent race won subsequently and today's extra furlong is sure to suit. His recent conqueror Pulse Of Shanghai has progressed tremendously well in recent months and comes here with from a career high mark of 87. He is clearly in fantastic form and could continue to progress some more but a concern is he has yet to win at a mile, in contrast to the selection who will relish the step up in trip. Rebel Tale is a fascinating contender under top weight. He showed great promise as a 2yo, and while he failed to compete in the Irish 2,000 Guineas in June and disappointed later that month at the Curragh, he returned from a 141 days absence when finishing a good fourth here last month. That was fiercely competitive (Saltonstall won, Romanised was third) and now that he has shown his old sparkle and showing an ability to handle the surface, should go well. Orchid Gardens won a course and distance maiden recently but faces a far stiffer task as she reverts to handicaps today. Geological, a 14-time winner, was behind Rebel Tale here recently and while he is now 8lbs better off for his 2L beating, his only win here at a mile was in 2017 and he might ideally prefer a shorter trip.
