FormscanBy Tom Weekes - PAPAL LODGE can give away a winners' penalty and win this ordinary maiden. PAPAL LODGE was useful in bumpers, winning at Roscommon in August and while well beaten in all his three of his maiden hurdle starts, he has bumped into some smart types and drops markedly to this winneable maiden. Mahons Glory finished second on his bumper debut last March and while he has failed to trouble the judge since, also bumped into a smart type at Cork in January. His latest Thurles run was a little underwhelming but reverting to hurdles should see him to better affect and should give the selection a real race receiving 8lbs today. New Society, a three-times flat winner over middle-distances, ran with promise on hurdles debut a fortnight ago and is capable of getting involved.
A hurdle for five years old and upwards, maidens at startingWeights - 12st Mares allowed 7lbs
