FormscanBy Michael Graham - Gordon Elliott's THE ABBEY has claims in a competitive heat. He won over further in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel last month and a couple of winners have already come out of that race. His stamina will be a help in a race where many have chances. Henry de Bromhead and Conor McNamara teamed up to winning effect with Frontline Worker in a Punchestown maiden hurdle. The Presenting mare did it very well on seasonal reappearance when obliging by three and a quarter lengths. She will enjoy this better ground. Similar sentiments about the ground apply to The Abbey's stablemate, Lieutenant Highway, who won a Clonmel maiden hurdle. He is a big threat now he has got his head in front. Churchtown Ruby won her maiden hurdle in Tramore last weekend which bodes well for this assignment. Minella Youngy isn't out of it.
