FormscanBy Mark Nunan - BEACON EDGE ran a career best when beaten less than a length by Honeysuckle in Grade 1 company at Fairyhouse a couple of months ago and can return to winning ways. He started the season with a couple of wins in conditions’ events, including when giving 5lbs and a beating to Grand Roi at Galway. He’s back in trip here but has a good enough cruising speed to overcome that possible negative. Grand Roi, an expensive acquisition from Nicky Henderson’s yard, showed the benefit of that seasonal debut at Galway when winning decisively over this trip at Limerick and he may well get closer to the selection than their respective ratings would imply. A hood is now tried on Coeur Sublime after a poor run at Leopardstown, but he had started the season promisingly in the Morgiana Hurdle and can get involved if returning to his best. Only one of Bachasson’s 11 victories has come left-handed and he will be vulnerable to speedier rivals over this distance, while American challenger Winston C would prefer better ground and comes here after a long lay-off.
