FormscanBy Mark Nunan - BARON ZEE was only a head behind Moktaffy when the pair were placed behind Dublin Journal at Naas and can turn the tables here on his second start. Michael Halford’s horses usually improve a good bit from their debuts and the Zoffany colt can follow that trend. First-time headgear is applied to Moktaffy and that’s usually a positive with horses from this stable, so Dermot Weld’s gelding, previously a good second to a smart horse on the polytrack, is still very much respected. Gamigin wasn’t beaten far in fourth in that same Naas maiden and can’t be discounted, while a couple of Galileo newcomers to note are Malawi (a half-brother to a Group Three winner over 12f) and Witham River (a half-brother to Group One-winning sprinter Art Connoisseur).
