Out of an Irish National-winner, the selection won a Grade 3 in March while earlier efforts finishing behind high-class rivals The Big Westerner, Jade De Grugy and Dinoblue point to her bettering today’s 132 rating. Beckett Rock is unexposed and lightly-raced over fences and ran well over hurdles at Cheltenham in March, when he was hampered twice. He finished second in a Gowran handicap chase in February and stepping up in distance should help. Argento Boy was beaten 33 lengths into fourth in the Irish National but that wasn’t a bad effort while stablemate Captain exited early in the English-edition and was Grade 1-placed just last November. Invictus Machin is in form but exposed.

When Darragh (O'Keeffe, on Slade Steel) came past me at the second-last, I thought maybe he had me, but I kept picking up and picking up and he was a good winner at the line. He's a fantastic jumper and I was basically a passenger all the way you know. Warren(Greatrex-trainer) was keen to go wide and he seemed to enjoy being in his own comfort zone and his own rhythm. It panned out beautifully for me as I said. Very lucky. We came over this morning and back at 7pm tonight. It's another day but it's got that extra special tinge to it being Punchestown. We’ve always been keen to come here if we have the right sort of horse,. This horse has just been a star for us. He won the Topham two years ago and has found it hard since then, but he was on a dangerous mark today. I was a bit worried about the ground but Harry’s given him a great ride. We had a runner in the first chase and James (Bowen) came in and said ‘if I had been wider I would have had a right chance’. He came over on Tuesday and he’s a horse that loves going on a trip, like I do. He’s thrived since he’s been here. He was squealing in the morning. He almost ups his game when he goes away and we knew we had him in good shape. I was a bit worried about the ground, he does like soft ground, but as I said he was on a dangerous mark and he’s gone and done it so it’s brilliant. I’m all for having a go and it’s important that we all have a go if we have the right sort of horse. It pays off every now and then. It’s what it’s all about, competition is good.

He's been as solid as a rock. It's brilliant for John and Sabrina (Daly), it's their first horse with me. Jim (Melia) and Sean and Kathleen who bred him had him with me to point-to-point and sell. We couldn't get a decent price for him in England and I said I'd get them a few pound back home so I was delighted for them. We think he'll make a nice chaser in time, we've thought that all along. He jumps really well and it's great to pick up a hurdle race on the way. The small field and having to do the donkey work was far from ideal for him. It's great to get a winner, it's been a while since we had one. Mark gave her a lovely ride. He said they went very quick in front and he felt it just fell apart. . She is a nice mare going forward. She is a little bit babyish and made one or two novicey mistakes, which I didn't think she would, but I suppose they were going a good speed and it was her first time over fences. . It was a race for horses rated 120 or less over hurdles, so a lot of the higher class horses were ruled out. We'll have to see where she fits in as the season goes on. . He bends his knee and wouldn't want the ground any faster but it was hard not to take our chance, with the race being for horses rated 120 or less. There is no point taking on the better horses and, it's amazing, not many of those better ones go out on grass at this time of year and many are still around. The maiden hurdle he won didn't turn out to be anything but he had a few nice runs, he stays well and had a good run the last day at Wexford, when his jumping was sketchy early-on.
