It probably looked like I was going nowhere coming down the hill but, he is a big boy and, I just wanted to have him rolling when we hit the hill. He bunny hopped the last a bit and I thought he might fire it away but he was good over the last and, he came up the hill well. He missed the break unfortunately and he was always on the backfoot from there. You could see he was getting into it at the second last and he missed it, but it all worked out in the end. He’s run over fences at Listowel last year but was a bit weak. He jumps fences well. He’s in Debbie(Breslin)’s name and I think it’s her first runner and her first winner. A J Martin, trainer

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the bend passed the stands involving Castleheath, ridden by P.M. O'Brien, Battle Of Ridgeway, ridden by L.A. McKenna, Ragmans Corner, ridden by E. Finegan, Duleek Street, ridden by A. Harvey, Half A Chance, ridden by G. Brouder, Miss Dishy, ridden by S. Cleary-Farrell, and Jack Holiday, ridden by P.T. Smithers where it appeared an incident occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. P.M. O'Brien and A. Harvey both said they got pressure from their outside. L.A. McKenna felt he kept his line around the bend. E. Finegan said he was behind the incident and had to take a check. G. Brouder said he was outside Jack Holiday with lots of room when a horse moved from his outside causing him to rub and bump the horse on his inside. P.T. Smithers said he clipped a heel when it got tight from both sides. S. Cleary Farrell felt he was keeping his line when he heard a shout. He added he didn't think he had caused interference and then he pulled out. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found L.A

McKenna and S. Cleary-Farrell in breach of Rule 214 in that they had ridden carelessly and having considered their records, third offence for L.A. McKenna and first offence for S. Cleary-Farrell, they suspended L.A

McKenna for eight days and S. Cleary-Farrell for two racedays

S. O'Callaghan, rider of Pahlavi, trained by John Joseph Hanlon, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a mistake at the third last.
