Silence gains valuable winning bracket
we're delighted to get a winning bracket for her. Jim Ryan and Dr Tan are big supporters of the yard. She's not the most straight-forward of fillies but I think she's improving with the more experience she's getting. That was her best effort today and hopefully she can progress with racing. We always thought she was very smart and she deserved to win a maiden.
'Wins bar a fall' prediction comes true
Gary the cheeky bugger rode him work the other day and said to me 'he'll win bar a fall' and I said 'it's not a bloody hurdle race!'. He said 'well then you have your answer - if I'm wrong the horse that beats him will win. I was happy with that and the lads like to have a few quid on so I'm sure they're happy. He's still a big baby, he's 17 hands and might go over hurdles now, I'm not too sure. I've always thought the world of him, he's a lovely horse. He's still green. Gary said initially he was hanging a bit left and then when he straightened him up he was hanging right. When he hit the front he was very green but he likes him an awful lot.
Martin praises Rutledge as pair win again
Colin Keane wouldn't have given him any better of a ride and that's the difference when you have a good 7lb claimer. When you claim 7lb off and things go right it's some help.
Progressive Tartlette gains third career win
we're delighted with that. She ran a super race here the last day. This looked a good opportunity to get a run into her and it cut up a bit. She was in good nick at home and we were quietly confident coming here. She loves the surface, she has won three times around here now, and loves top of the ground. I think there could be a race back here for her in a fortnight's time, we'll see how she comes out of it. If we get a dry summer we should have sport with her but if it's a wet old summer we won't, it's as simple as that.
Consecutive wins for 'over-priced' Well Suited
he's enjoying it up here and is getting it together. He's settling down and starting to enjoy his racing. He toughed it out. I was concerned about his draw but I thought he was over-priced. He's not a bad horse and hopefully we'll have more of the same.
Masalai bags fifth Dundalk win
it's good to get another one with him. I think he was better today than the last day. We had a 3lb penalty so I thought it was worth chancing and it worked out. Dylan knows where the winning post is.
Togoville stretches Dundalk record to 12
that's a special one. I couldn't believe it and I'm actually speechless. He's the star of the yard, he's an older horse and the whole yard has gone a different way now as we've gone into more younger horses. We bought a lot of two-year-olds this week. He's a legend here and I'm very happy for Patrick McCann and his wife for their constant support. Keeping him in training was brilliant. dropping back down into that grade I thought he might have won the last day but it just took a run for him to get himself back. I went down to load him in the stalls tonight and he was chomping at the bit. I was very lucky to be able to claim him back in a claimer here last month. It was a chance we took but it worked out alright. We'll see what happens with him now. He's coming near the stage where we'd retire him. He hit a good note tonight anyway and we'll sit down and talk about it tomorrow.
Richard O'Brien registers '1-3' in Dundalk's finale
that's great and I'm delighted with him. He had a nice smooth run from his last race to this and we were hoping he'd go and do something like that, I thought he was quite taking. Dusty (Shane Foley) said he's still a baby. It's messy out there with the head-wind and everything. He said he just went away and did it fairly well. We can have a look at a variety of options for him now but it's nice to get a win with him.
