Bossing It got off the mark at the fourth time of asking in the qualified riders' maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan.

The well punted 11/4 favourite (from 9/2) made good progress for Simon Cavanagh after two out and improved to lead narrowly over the last. She was good and strong on the run-in to go on by three and a-quarter lengths from 3/1 runner-up Cocovic with Rhythmic Tune (33/1 - 20/1) back in third.

The winner was last seen finishing fifth in a mares' maiden hurdle at Punchestown in January.

David O’Brien said: “Simon doesn’t ride for me that often, but I think he’s won four of the last five between point-to-points and the track. He said she got under the second last and she found plenty for him from the last.

“She got boxed in for Rob James in a bumper at Cork and then she ran a lovely race in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown. It was heavy ground and we decided to give her a break to strengthen her up a bit and it seems to have paid off.

“It’s a nice family and the mother, Is Herself About, won four for us.

"Simon said she handled the ground well, but I wouldn’t want to run her on anything quicker. Hopefully, she’ll strengthen more.”
