Leinster lands the last at Curragh's marathon meet Dylan Browne McMonagle finished last in the opener but first-in-the-finale of the Curragh’s marathon-meeting today, combining with trainer Joseph O’Brien for a double on Leinster (9/2f) in the concluding Tote.ie Handicap. The pair earlier combined for maiden success with Mathan, before Leinster readily swept aside 17 rivals to land the concluding Tote.ie Handicap, for owners Al Shira'aa Racing. Regarding Leinster, O’Brien said “he’d a really nice run in Roscommon the last day and had a setback after that race, so it was unfortunate that he missed the end of the season. The Al Shira’aa team were happy to be patient and hopefully he can be a progressive stayer now. “He looked in Roscommon as though the trip was a bit short for him and hit the line really well so we were looking forward to stepping up in trip. I think stamina won’t be an issue to him. He’ll probably be out again in the not too distant future again.” Four hours and five minutes bookended today’s fixture, which featured a Listed race, but had seven 35-minute gaps between short-run races.
