The Joseph O'Brien trained Lark In The Mornin won for the first time since last years Cheltenham festival when making all under John Gleeson to land the concluding Seamus Mulvaney Bookmaker, Crockafotha (Q.R.) Race at Bellewstown.

Winner of the 2024 Boodles Juvenile Hurdle at the festival, the gelding has been lightly raced in the months that followed.

Having shaped with promise on a couple of occasions over jumps, the five-year-old reverted to the Flat to finish third at Listowel last time.

Almost certainly outstayed over that extended trip, connections wisely decided to drop back to a mile and a half here.

Leading from the off under John Gleeson, the well backed 4/11f stayed on well to beat Arch Empire by two lengths.

Stable representative Mick Halford said: "Ah he was (the class act in the race), he won like his price suggested. He has such a class about him and lovely to see him do that.

"It is lovely to get opportunities for these horses because they are not the easiest to place. These races are a great help when they come along.

"It should set him up lovely and fill him full of confidence now, and he will go on to Galway."
