we have had 14 seconds in the last nine weeks, so we are entitled to another winner. I went over to England with a bundle of horses this year, where we’ve had three winners and eight seconds. The horses have been running great but we couldn’t get a winner recently. I’m delighted to get this mare to win, as her owners are from Kerry. There is never a problem with them and they love the game. When this mare got hurt and I had to give her time off, there wasn’t a word said, so I’m delighted for them. She is a right mare and we brought Paddy back home from England to ride this and another one (unplaced Stormbreaker) in the next.

she is a nice mare and I had her half-brother Versin Getorix who broke down the day he won, and I could never get him right afterwards. Michael said she rides like a huge mare, she has a big front and is a gorgeous mare. She had been running too keen all along but Michael is well able to grab one back and get one to settle. I'm delighted with her because we ran her back a little bit quick after Wexford, and the ground turned out to be a bit softer than ideal. She's only a slight mare, 15 '3, and the better ground at Wexford was more to her liking. It was a messy race, and she got squeezed on the home turn, but toughed it out well. She was well bought by Michael Hogan (owner) because she's by a good sire and is a half-sister to a Grade 1-placed horse. We'll give her three weeks now and find something else - we'll keep her to the country tracks for now.

She’ll probably stay on her now, but where we’ll go with her I don’t know. It’s brilliant for her to break her maiden here and she won well. That's my first winner, my dad (Tony) used to train years ago and had a good few winners. It's a hobby for us and my son Billy is doing most of the work with them,. I've had the licence for two years and we've six in at the moment. We're delighted with her, we knew she had lots of ability. She had shown it at home, all the time, but fillies can be very tricky and you never know when you have them right. Philly gave her a great ride. She likes to be in front and she got an opportunity today when she was let go there and nothing came up to push her too hard. We'll look for the same again and see how she goes. She was much more relaxed today, she normally gets very wired before races.
