I'm fortunate to be able to ride in the family colours and I'll tip away and try to get a few more. I'm in college in UCD and being able to do this on the side suits well at the moment. I ride out with Gavin Cromwell, am hoping to get experience race-riding and will keep riding as an amateur. Dad (prominent owner Chris Jones) had planned to go on holidays from a while ago and flew out this morning but will be happy out regardless, as the horse has won. the horse has been keeping the best of company and that is a great start to the season. The horse deserves to win a big one and that'll help with his confidence. it's great for Andrew and while his father had great success over the years with the likes of Klairon Davis, this is the winner he'll get most pleasure out of. He gave him a lovely ride - the horse was keen but he didn't panic and was following the right man in Harry Swan (on Minella Mate). He knew he was on the fastest horse in the race and waited until he got balanced straightening up. His parents had booked a holiday so flew out this morning but Andrew won't mind!

They went fast but Robyn was clever enough to take her time. . At Down Royal the last day, Robyn's foot came out of an iron when she thought he'd have won but he won today instead. We were disappointed with him in Listowel (seventh in the Lartigue Hurdle) as I thought he'd nearly win but he got in behind horses and didn't enjoy it. Katie (his wife) had ridden him in a bit of work before Listowel and he galloped really well so his run was a bit of a head-scratcher. We talked about it and she was adamant that Shane should give him room on the outside today. He has loads of ability and the softer ground helped.

Early in the race, it didn't look as though she would be involved. Danny said she made a few mistakes and didn't really travel, but then she switched on and showed some of her class from the Flat. We'll have to have a think now as to where we go and, while we had planned to give her a break, Danny is anxious to keep going. We'll have a committee meeting and, now that she has won really well, you'd have the mares' novice hurdle at Cheltenham in the back of your mind. She is a nice prospect and the syndicate are delighted with her. They were involved in Vischio previously and this one was bought to replace her.

I thought the last day in Thurles that the winner sprinted past her and then she kept battling to the line, it wasn’t her fault,. I said to Ben today on that ground to put them to the sword and he did. He gave her a brilliant ride. He said he had to keep the gun to her head the whole way as she’s a filly that if you lay off her she’d turn around on you. She is a little bit strange but she has plenty of ability. She is a slow learner and hopefully there is still plenty of improvement in her. I think she’ll go on any ground but the Calyxs seem to want a cut in the ground. That might be her for the year. There is a mile-and-six in Navan next week but I’d rather step her up in trip next year. She’s had a lot of runs close together.
