Kew Gardens looked the obvious one for the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Killarney. The Galileo colt duly prevailed at odds of 4/6.

Donnacha O'Brien never had to get serious with the son of 2004 Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Chelsea Rose.

The Ballydoyle juvenile, previously seventh at the Curragh, asserted a furlong out to defeat Tonkin by four and half lengths.

Money on the other Aidan O'Brien horse, Freetown (13/2 into 3/1), went astray as he never threatened in fifth.

Donnacha O'Brien said: "He's a nice horse and will make a lovely stayer. He handled the ground well and has done it nicely.

"He broke a bit slow but I took him to the outside and let him go his own pace. I'd say he'll be a mile and a half horse next year, and maybe even further but he has a bit of class."

Pat Smullen (3rd on Militry Decoration meanwhile reported: "The ground is pretty heavy down the back but it's a bit better in the straight."
