Dancing Waves made a impact when gaining her maiden win at Down Royal today, sprinting clear of 11 rivals to readily win the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden for trainer Ger Lyons and jockey Colin Keane.
The daughter of Zoffany was held up in mid-division before moving to lead over a furlong out and in the end scored a five lengths win over Famous Milly
Lyons was represented by his brother and assistant Shane Lyons who later stated “we always liked her, she's smart but is just coming to herself now.
“We have her in all the big races and we like to think she's a stakes horse. We liked her in the spring and she went through a little growing spurt and was very green (on debut at Roscommon).
“We always knew she would improve for her first run and she put that to bed at the furlong pole very quickly.
“She's in the big races for a reason and has the attributes of a good one.”
