Leopardstown Sat, 19th Oct, 2024  Yamal He travelled and the headgear obviously worked,. He's a big strapping, strong horse and he's not a two-year-old. We knew that was in him and his form said that was in him. I thought he parked the last day. He's in the horses-in-training sale so I've a decision to make with the owners, whether we'll move him on or keep him on the team for next year. He was always going to be a better three-year-old. If we think there is a big one in him we'll have a decision to make. That was better.

Naas Sat, 12th Oct, 2024  My Mate Alfie He keeps making us look good! This was an afterthought, and I’ve just let him freshen up since the Curragh. I said to Austin (Whelan, owner) to let me teach him how to sprint. I’m always moaning that Irish sprinters need practice where the English get them every week so if I didn’t run him then I’m not living up to what I’m asking for. He’s improved from run to run and we should have huge fun with him next year. Take the blinkers off him and he just goes to sleep. He’s a different horse with headgear. Six (furlongs) is grand. He does get further but we won’t fix what is not broken and he can travel next year when the conditions suit.

Dundalk Fri, 11th Oct, 2024  Glyndwr We're delighted with that, he's a work in progress and still very green. We knew he'd like this surface. We're delighted that he won over seven because we know that he wants a mile. Colin said that he'd be a lovely horse for next year over a mile or even a mile-and-a-quarter. We're absolutely thrilled to get a winner for Philip Richards, who is a new owner to us. He's based in the Isle Of Man and has been very patient. He had a couple of horses with us last year and we said we'd get him a nice horse this year and here we are. Hopefully he has a good season next year as well.

Tipperary Sun, 6th Oct, 2024  Power Under Me The trainer was telling me it was trainer error the last day, but it wasn’t as the ground was beautiful on Champions Weekend and he’s just told us that we’ll only run him again on slower than good. . He is ground dependent and soft is his ideal ground. He absolutely owes us nothing and has been a great servant for Vincent and Geraldine (Gaul) who are great supporters of ours. . We had him in at Cork the other day, but the ground was just on the yielding side of good and with this coming up, we weren’t going to chance that. . Himself and Mutasarref are two of the stalwarts of the yard and they could meet in the Knockaire at Leopardstown (on October 20). 

Dundalk Fri, 4th Oct, 2024  Tough Talk You could argue that (tough by name and nature). He qualified for the race in Laytown and Derek (O'Connor) just did what he did. He leads all our work at home and he is very, very straightforward at home. That was lovely and he is a fine horse - he's a gorgeous horse, but he's off to the Sales and we've had our time with him. You don't ever want to lose them, but we have had our time with him and it is what the policy is. They sell at a certain level and that is where he is, you can't keep running in Dundalk with him. He was a quality two-year-old and was held up as a three-year-old. It has taken us this long to get him right and then you saw him on the beach (Laytown).

Cork Tue, 1st Oct, 2024  Mutasarref This is Eleanora's (Kennedy) last hurrah for the season as she heads back to the States this week, so goes out with a winner. She has had a lovely summer and Mutasarref has been a star. Today was for Eleanora as she asked me to have one ready before October 5. How do you get horses like that as, 'ya-I'll-have-a-horse-for-you' and the next thing is they have a stone bruise, a temperature or the ground is wrong or else the trainer's in a bad mood! He has done everything and more, has danced every jig and has kept a smile on our faces. it was straightforward and with having Colin on your side, you know you're in safe hands. He kept it simple, took a lead and put his head in front when he needed to, that's what he has been doing all his career on that horse. He is a legend of a horse and fellas are up at the sales in Goffs this week spending millions, so what would they give to find one of him?. Hopefully he isn't finished for the year but it depends on the ground as he doesn't want heavy.

Curragh Sun, 29th Sep, 2024  My Mate Alfie He's straightforward and I'm happy to have him. He's just improved all season. We said we'd teach him how to sprint all year, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. He just after rocking up and improving all year. I think he's won what he has deserved, a Group 3. He couldn't get near Givemethebeatboys early in the year but, the way he has improved now, if they had to meet in a match he'd have to give him six or seven pounds. It's a credit to the horse. We know he'll get seven - I promised the owner that if he let me do it my way this year that we'd go touring next year, so I'll have to come up with a plan to get out of that one!. He makes you look good, he's so straightforward. You'd think these sprinters are high octane and hard to deal with, but he's so laidback and I think that's the secret to his success. He's handled any ground as well.

Dundalk Fri, 27th Sep, 2024  Bellezza We're delighted, she's a filly that we've always thought a lot of. She's had a few hard luck stories in races but she's just put it together there and showed what we thought we had. She's a fine big filly that will only thrive with another year under her belt as well. We just said to Chris today to throw the reins at her and ride her as you find her. To go out there and enjoy yourself, so to speak. He was able to switch her off, he thought they weren't going a gallop and he kicked on up the straight. She kind of pricked her ears a little bit so there is plenty left there. It's disappointing that Maurice (Regan) had to finish second but she's ran an absolute blinder as well and they are two fillies that we're very much looking forward to next year over that trip and further.
