McCreery completes Cork double

Sat 6th May 2017, 16:48

Trainer Willie McCreery has been a regular in winners’ enclosures in recent days and completed a double at Cork today, his sixth win in seven days, when Tommy Hallinan landed the Cork Racecourse Rated Race.

The son of Intense Focus made all and responded well to jockey Declan McDonogh’s urgings to maintain his lead in the closing stages, for a length win over Chronicles

Afterwards McCreery stated “Declan (McDonogh) loved him and while I was hoping for an ease today, he moved brilliantly and seemed to love it. He was in great form but was doing nothing by staying at home so I had to run him.

“He’s the only horse I have for Michael Ryan and that’s also our first winner together.”

On-fire McCreery has now had winners at each of the last four flat racemeetings in Ireland, with winners at Gowran on Sunday, Naas on Monday and doubles both today and at Clonmel on Thursday.
