Willie Mullins and Paul Townend enjoyed excellent respective Cheltenham festivals during the week and the trainer/jockey pairing combined again to win the Grade 3 Kerry Group European Breeders Fund Shannon Spray Mares Novice Hurdle at Limerick today with Kate Appleby Shoes
The daughter of Flemensfirth raced prominently throughout and in the end scored a five lengths win over The Green Lady
Townend, who steered Penhill and Arctic Fire to win at Cheltenham, commented “we didn’t think the step up in trip would be any problem and it suited her. She stays galloping - that’s all she does. It’s bottomless out there and is tough out to stay galloping like she does.”
