Philip Fenton's versatile nine-year-old Caim Hill landed the Gigginstown House Midlands National Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan in decisive fashion in the hands of Brian O'Connell.

Late defections allowed the in-form Victrix Gale and Supreme Doc into the race as reserves and the former headed the market for the valuable contest before finishing fourth.

With the final fence omitted there was a long run from the last and it will have done Caim Hill (11-2) no harm as his most recent victories were on the level, and he went past Osana heading to the straight to score by six and a half lengths.

Mattie Bowes conjured a great late run from Imperial Shabra to snatch the Coola Handicap Hurdle with the post looming.

Oliver Brady's eight-year-old looked to be struggling as three opponents pulled away entering the closing stages, but the 7-1 chance stuck to his task and burst through on the inner to grab Fairly Definite and win by three-quarters of a length.< Music On D Waters showed great determination in the hands of Conor Maxwell to hang on for victory in a tight finish to the Tom McCormack Memorial Cup Mares Maiden Hurdle, breaking her duck at the 21st attempt.

Favourite Some Fiddle looked to be travelling like a winner entering the final stages but got going all too late and Dermot McLoughlin's 14-1 shot held her late surge by a head, with Minella Lady also close up.

Henry de Bromhead's 11-8 favourite Special Tiara had finished runner-up in both his outings leading up to the Follow Kilbeggan On Facebook Maiden Hurdle and made no mistake this time, leading all the way under Phillip Enright and skipping five lengths clear.

Garrett Power's Excellent As Usual (12-1) returned from a 337-day lay-off to step up on last year's second in the Ladies Day At Kilbeggan Handicap Hurdle under an aggressive ride from Paul Townend, leading five out to win by three and a quarter lengths.
