Downpatrick Sun, 14th Jun, 2026  Malbay Madness Paddy said to me that he seems to be improving with every run. He was keen today, but finished out the race well. That's what we thought (go well at another undulating track as his previous wins were in Kilbeggan) - as Paddy said to me there, he travelled well and felt stronger than the last day he rode him. Obviously, he is improving too. He's moving up (in the weights) and we will see what the man (handicapper) does tomorrow, but I thought coming here he was in good nick. Find good ground and an undulating track and go from there. They are all running well and they all seem to like nice ground. We have been waiting on a bit of nice ground, so it has been working well for us.

Downpatrick Sat, 13th Jun, 2026  Finnians Row He won here the last day, same with the mare (Joya Del Mar), and they seem to like it around here. Once he gets his head in front, he seems to enjoy it. That's a big help when you enjoy the place, he seems to like the hills. I fancied him today, so it was great. Maybe so (build upon that elsewhere), but they all love running in Downpatrick!. It is great for the two ladies that own him and stuck by him. He had a few stinking runs, but he seems to be back in form. We'll see what the handicapper does, but we'll keep him going. I knew coming here he was in good nick, though.

Downpatrick Sat, 13th Jun, 2026  Joya Del Mar Hey Babbs was in season this morning, so we had to come with this one. She obviously won well here the last day, and she seems to enjoy it here. She ran in Sligo the other day and Ricky (Doyle) rode her and said she didn't even blow out a candle. I don't know, she's a tricky filly. Once she is sweet, she keeps going and that is the main thing for them all. It was the same here the last day - when she hit the front, she seemed to relish the hill. She flew up the hill.

Downpatrick Fri, 22nd May, 2026  Joya Del Mar She's a tricky customer. I thought she would win before now, to be honest. Plenty of ability and a nice mare. She was in season here the last day, so we will put it down to that. Coming down the weights and Ricky said she did things easily. Better ground and she jumped well, she enjoyed herself, and that is half the battle with these fillies. She was tricky to get away at the start and different things, but she has plenty of ability. I think so (starting to put it together), about time now. We are fond of Downpatrick; it has been lucky for me. I have good ground horses, so it is a big help.
