The Breda Miley Race at Naas turned into a tactical affair, with Ger Lyons' Lightnin Hopkins (13-8 favourite) taking top spot after racing alone up the stands rail.

The six-furlong juvenile event contained only three runners after the withdrawal of Tennesse Wilcat, also trained by Lyons, but it was a fascinating affair.< Boston Rocker led on the far side and fought off the challenge of Blue Bullet a furlong out, but Lightnin Hopkins held a half-length advantage on the other side of the track as they flashed past the post.< Designs On Rome (9-2) gained a deserved first career win in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.

Pat Flynn's highly-regarded colt wasn't beaten far when fourth to Lines Of Battle at the Curragh and it was a case of third time lucky as Danny Grant delivered him two furlongs out to beat Mouteab by two lengths.< Roja Dove swooped in the closing stages to deny Benalex Park in the Book On-Line At naasracecourse.com Handicap.

The Ken Condon-trained winner, partnered by Shane Foley, lunged late to edge the verdict by a neck at odds of 10-1.

There was another close call in the Follow Naas On Facebook Handicap as Ningaloo Reef prevailed under Seamie Heffernan.

Garvan Donnelly's 4-1 favourite scored by a head from Theyturnedmedown < Money Spider opened her account at the 15th time of asking as the 5-2 second-favourite in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

The Sallins Hurdle got the jumps action under way and Beau Michael (9-2), trained by Adrian McGuiness and ridden by Keith Donoghue, beat El Fontan by eight and a half lengths having kicked clear three flights from the finish.

The www.naasracecourse.com Handicap Hurdle went to Clancy Strand (7-1) for 'Boots' and 'Slippers' Madden, while Sadler's Mark defied a 5lb penalty for Thursday's Galway success when landing the Naas Apprentice Handicap under Colin Keane.
