Russian Empress has always been a consistent filly only finishing outside the first three on her debut back in May of last year and the David Myerscough trained four-year-old obtained a second win here in good style under Pauric Beggy.

Myerscough is hoping to gain some black type with this Trans Island filly and if she can continue to improve from this first run of the season, that idea may not be out of the question.

My Girl Sophie has now filled the runner up spot on two occasions for Jim Bolger and she just couldn't go with the winner who quickened up well to score by a length and a half.

A couple of these came late to grab some of the minor money, most notably Inwood who finished third for Paul Magnier and Chris Hayes. Inwood looked well held on the turn into the straight with just three behind him but he picked up all but two of the field inside the final furlong and a half to run an eyecatching race and a step up in trip may see this one cause further problems.

Ginger Princess was another who closed late and he looked like claiming third before the late finishing Inwood came to prominence but it was a good run all the same by Oliver McKiernan's charge who was beaten less than a length the night before at Dundalk and he should be scoring again after a worthy break. Johnny Fahy rider of Ginger Princess was severely cautioned as to his future responsibility in his excessive use of the whip.

The Tracey Collins trained Cuilaphuca tracked the leaders before weakening and she managed to only beat one home to the dismay of many punters who backed the Danetime filly from 5/1 into 7/2 favourite at the track and from 8/1 in places earlier in the morning.

The Dandy Nicholls trained Fremen just failed to make the money but ran a better race than most expected under top weight.
