Final Approach takes finale
The Kevin Prendergast trained Final Approach took the concluding Maiden at The Curragh on Saturday, but only just. Sat 06th Jun
It will be hard to find another race as easy as this. He will go for a Graded race next, probably the Tara Hurdle at Navan.
W P Mullins
we aimed Final Approach at this race all year and while Paul probably arrived a bit soon, he got all the breaks in the race. Emmet (Mullins, rider of Call The Police) gave his horse a great ride too on just the horse's third run over hurdles. Final Approach had a few indifferent runs and we were very disappointed with him at Down Royal but I thought things were falling in his favour the way he had been coming on at home recently - today was probably his Derby though.
W P Mullins
He will probably go to Punchestown now for one of the four year old races maybe even a graded race. He's a very smart horse and he jumped really well today, he'll be far better on a galloping track.
W P Mullins
He handled the ground well and was entitled to have a good chance on his previous run at Naas. I will look for a handicap for him back here over the Derby weekend.
Kevin Prendergast
