Min makes impressive Irish debut

I’m gutted as he put in an exhibition of jumping and you couldn’t see it. He settled great in front. Chris’s Dream was beside us a lot of the way. From when we turned down the back he made ground at each jump. I was on the bridle down to the second-last and Tornado Flyer suddenly appeared on my outside. Bryan was motionless and I was flat out and was headed going down to the last. I winged the last and he kept on really well. He’s push-button stuff and I’d love another go on him.
W P Mullins
He’s been a super horse for us and it’s great he’s had his day here. We used the wrong tactics on him in the Champion Chase last year and it didn’t work out. He likes to be up there, Paul let him do that and here he is again at the top table. I was very worried when Saint Calvados came up — we seem to be opening the door up the inside a lot this week! I did get very worried, but he threw a lovely leap at the last and put it to bed. He still had a little bit left in the tank. I’m wondering does he just get that trip, is that the extent of his stamina? I think he could come back to two miles, but this seems to be his optimum.
W P Mullins
I thought it was an unbelievable performance coming after three mistakes. I think he wanted to go faster, but it’s hard to judge what is happening in that wind. To come back from what I thought was certain defeat after the second-last was very good. He picked up and threw a huge leap at the last and was going away after the last. I hadn’t thought beyond today and don’t have any plan for him. The jump at the last just shows what he had in the tank and that sealed it for him. I think he can jump way better than that and can improve from that run. He can go over two miles or two and a half.
W P Mullins
It was unfortunate to lose Henry's horse early on. With the first and last fence out I'm not sure it told us much,. I was delighted with my fella, he ran up to form. I think he got a fright when Castlegrace Paddy fell and didn't jump the next few fences, especially the first down the back he just propped at it and stopped. He said if he keeps doing that he's probably out of the race. Ruby got him jumping then and got him into a rhythm down the back and it was only a matter of waiting until he got over the last and giving him the office to go, which he did. He has the pace for two miles and he can go out to two-and-a-half and maybe even an extra furlong or two as well. When he's on song, and he jumps well, he can gain ground in the air and keep his position. He has a lot of doors open for him. I'm very happy to win today and that's as far as I'm thinking. That's good, Rich is over for the race as well and we're very happy. Footpad and Min can both go out in trip or run over two miles. We should be able to keep them apart. I'm more concerned about getting some proper winter weather for some of these racetracks, and Cheltenham as well. We keep saying it'll come but it hasn't come. I'm more concerned about ground than keeping them apart. The Red Mills is an option (for Footpad). A lot of people are looking at the Red Mills, Presenting Percy included so that could be a real good race, it could be the race of the season.
W P Mullins
Ruby was maybe a bit bold there but he had to do what he had to do,. It was good and the horse responded. He jumped brilliant and I was very pleased with that. I don't mind going back to two at all, he pulled very hard in behind there today, and he has the speed for two. He'll probably go back in trip for Christmas but we'll see what we have in his division. We have Un De Sceaux there and Great Field so we could try and keep this fellow at a longer trip and try and find races for him. It didn't look like he was stopping today but it was a very slow run race, I thought, and he was very keen in behind but I liked the way he jumped even though he was keen. I'm not looking to go out to three miles with him to be honest .
W P Mullins
They went very fast and David elected to settle him in and it made a huge difference. We changed our tactics a bit and it worked well. I’d imagine the Champion Chase is where he will go now, and we don’t have anything else in mind. I was very disappointed with Yorkhill and Paul said he was never travelling. It’s completely back to the drawing board with him. We’ll see if anything shows up but possibly the fast pace over jumps caused him to lose his jumping method down the back. He wasn’t happy going at pace over fences.
W P Mullins
After that he was dynamite everywhere - long and short whatever he wanted to do. He eyes them up himself. It was a good performance. He's off the track a long time and probably on that ground I was trying to go a stride slower than he wanted to go. He was very good and galloped right through to the line. It was as good as we hoped. He was impressive. We hoped he would do something like that and he did and it is on to the next day now. That was a tremendous return for Min and I thought his jumping was good and he was fresh and well. I loved the way he jumped and put himself right and while he didn't have much opposition and had a lot of things his own way, he was still very good. We now know he goes two and a half miles and he wasn't stopping either so it opens up a few more options. The John Durkan is too soon and I'll be looking at Christmas unless there's a juicy one before that. Hopefully I'll have a few more for the Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown.
W P Mullins
He left the rest of them for dead. Jumping is the name of the game and he jumped from fence to fence and anything that tried to lie up with him, they just couldn't handle it. He didn't have respect for his hurdles and ran too free, but he has a lot more respect for fences which helps him to settle. That probably helps to give him more pace at the end of his races now. He's matured more over the summer as well.
W P Mullins
He jumped well, and I'm really delighted with him. We can now look forward to his next race which will probably be at Christmas. I'd say he will stay over this distance at Leopardstown. I don't see any need to step up in trip as he's happy at that distance.
W P Mullins
You could not ask for any more, and he's living up to all the chat about him,.
W P Mullins
