THE WIN £250,000 WITH BETMGM'S GOLDEN GOALS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) Permission was given for Diamondonthehill (GB) to wear a red hood to post.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference from approximately one furlong out involving Diamondonthehill (GB), placed second, ridden by Hector Crouch and the winner, City Cyclone (GB), ridden by William Carson, which won by a short head margin.

The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved City Cyclone (GB)’s placing as the first incident which occurred near the 1 furlong marker was very minimal in nature, with City Cyclone (GB) shifting left- handed away from the whip before being corrected by Carson, which briefly moved Diamondonthehill (GB) off its intended line.

Thereafter, the two runners raced tight together for much of the final half furlong and made light contact on a number of occasions as a result of both horses being inclined to lean in opposing directions.

Both matters were considered to be accidental, as in the first incident Carson had corrected his mount in a timely manner and in the second incident any shift from either runner was marginal in a very competitive finish.

The placings remained unaltered.
