Permission was given for Bearwith (GB) to go early to post, wearing a red hood; and for Wait And Hope (GB) and Meet Me In Meraki (GB) to both go early to post.
Daniel Tudhope, the rider of Steps In Time (IRE) was unseated shortly after leaving the stalls.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no other horse or rider was involved and the incident had been caused by the gelding initially stumbling upon leaving the stalls, before tripping itself over after having trodden on its right-fore with its right-hind, which resulted in Tudhope being unseated.
Steps In Time (IRE) was deemed to be a runner, as it was very clearly mounted when the start was effected.
Following the race, George Downing reported that Meet Me In Meraki (GB), placed fourth, hung right- handed throughout.
