Permission was given for Indian Springs (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Noss Mayo (GB), ridden by Gianluca Sanna and trained by Edward Bethell, which was tenderly handled throughout to finish last of five, beaten 16 lengths.

The rider and the trainer’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.

The Veterinary Officer reported that two post-race examinations of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated his instructions were to educate the filly as she was very green but to obtain the best possible placing.

He further added that the filly had become unbalanced in the home straight, but had not reported this when returning to weigh in.

The Trainer’s representative confirmed these instructions and added that having spoken to Mr Bethell following the race, he felt that with more effort the filly could possibly have improved her finishing position and possibly could have finished fourth.

Sanna was suspended for 10 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible position in that he had failed to make sufficient effort throughout the race, particularly in the home straight, including the final 2 furlongs where he failed to make a substantial or timely effort when the filly appeared to be capable of challenging for fourth place.
