An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference shortly after the final hurdle involving Striking A Pose (IRE), placed second, ridden by Brendan Powell, Stinginhisstep (GB), placed third, ridden by Sean Houlihan and Coconut Twist (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Robbie David.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved either Striking A Pose (IRE)’s or STINGINHISTEP’s placing in relation to Coconut Twist (IRE) which was beaten ½ length and 3 ¾ lengths respectively.
Whilst the Stewards noted the gelding had improved its position on the approach to the final hurdle, there was insufficient evidence to be satisfied on the balance of probabilities that had interference not occurred, Coconut Twist (IRE) would have finished in front of both Striking A Pose (IRE) and Stinginhisstep (GB) who had both shifted marginally in to the path of Coconut Twist (IRE) causing the gap to close.
The interference was found to be accidental as jumping the final hurdle, Striking A Pose (IRE) shifted marginally left-handed before Stinginhisstep (GB) on landing shifted slightly right-handed causing Coconut Twist (IRE) to lose it’s racing room and be checked by the rider.
