Permission was given for Long Draw (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Harry Skelton was interviewed and asked to explain his riding of Supremely West (IRE), unplaced, specifically with regards to his tactics when racing on the inside line, having ridden with markedly different tactics on his other two rides over hurdles on the same card, where he raced to the wide outside.
Skelton explained that his priority was to sit prominently and to race with cover as his mount has a tendency to race keenly.
He continued that as the pace was provided by Gowel Road (IRE), placed third, who raced to the inside, he elected to remain behind this runner, resulting in him taking this line.
He further added that Supremely West (IRE) handles testing conditions well in addition to staying further, so he was not concerned about racing on this more worn line.
His explanation was noted.
The performance of Supremely West (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Dan Skelton could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer examined Supremely West (IRE) post-race and had nothing to report.
