We were disappointed in him the last day, but I'd say just two miles was too short and a lot of ours just needed the run at that stage. I was probably trying to be clever splitting them all up in Down Royal. I was nervous of running him back so quick but, in fairness, it was the right decision. He was tough. In fairness to him, he was a different horse there today. You could see the way he was travelling with his head down, he was happy. In Down Royal, his head was in the air and he never jumped. He had good bumper form last year and probably tapered off a bit at the end of the year, but that was back to more like it today. I'd say that's it (his trip) and he could go further as well. Maybe straight to Naas because he's after having two quick runs. Like most of those Gigginstown horses, he was bought to be a big chaser. I'd say whatever he does over hurdles, it is going to be chasing down the road.

He is an interesting horse to train, he is a quirky devil and I have to go to the start every day with him,. He has had his issues at the start in the past and Natalie Bradley, who rides him every day and led him up today, does a great job with him. She has transformed him, as he was a very difficult horse when he first came to me. and gets on really well with him. He was much better behaved today and whether the (first-time) blinkers helped, I'm not too sure. It can be a contradiction in him wearing a hood or blinkers, but it seems to work. This is his level, he loves that testing ground and we'll save his chase mark for next season.

He is going the right way, but is still a baby and is learning. Jack said the further he went, the better he got. In fairness, he was gutsy and galloped the whole way to the line. He probably wants 2m4f but, with the conditions, we decided to come here. He is down the pecking order for Cheltenham, but I'm sure there are races to be won with him and we might look for a rated novice next.

He needs a bit of nicer ground and needs a trip. Looking at him today I think he needs a fence too, but I’ll wait until the new season comes in. We’ll find a nice hurdle race between now and the end of Punchestown (festival). Possibly something in Fairyhouse for him. He didn’t enjoy Mallow. He didn’t take Paul along at all, so we took the hood off him today and I think it made a big difference. He was always very free, but he’s changed now. He’s more mature and is settling in his races, so it makes him easier to ride. It probably wasn’t the highest standard of race either. He’s improving and maybe the ones around him aren’t. I was happy to get that and I think his future might lie over fences.

To be fair he’s not a bad horse. He had a couple of good runs in bumpers,. He was just being hard on himself in bumpers, so we said we’d go jumping. He’ll probably make a chaser next year. It’s not like us to go jumping a hurdle at this time of year, but he’s six so we said we’d let him rock on. I think he’s a nice horse, he had a really good run in Fairyhouse. He jumped great. He might go to Fairyhouse for something, and he could be a horse for Aintree.

he’s a nice horse but we thought he’d come on from today as a lot of ours are coming on from their first run. We kept it simple and Jack said he had a blow. He’s very straightforward and I’d say he’ll stay further. He could be a horse that could go for the Formby Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1 at Aintree in December) as a few of the boys are from the UK.

I’d say he’ll be a nice horse when he steps up to three miles. We bought him in Goresbridge, he had won a point-to-point, and he got a few bits of injuries. That’s why he was late coming out. I’m delighted for the owner Peter Mackin, who is from Newry. His patience has paid off, thank God. He was maybe over-jumping if anything and I’d say jumping fences will maybe be his forte in time. I don’t get carried away with them but I do think he’ll make a nice three-mile chaser.
