FormscanBy Tom Weekes - RIVER VALE has yet to prove himself on heavy ground but remains unexposed as a lightly-raced nine-year-old and looks nicely better than his 100-rating. He made a belated debut aged seven but in May 2023 defeated the now 140-rated Oscars Brother to score at Dawstown. He has been running consistently, scored at Thurles last month and while testing ground is a concern, is rated 8lb lower in this sphere. Course-regular Where’s Frankie has already scored four times here and while a dour stayer who likes heavy ground, mightn’t be as well treated as the selection and wears a first-time tongue-tie. Cullig, Kingkong Ciergues and Lough Nigara have recent form.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (120 = 11st 12lbs) Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
