Here we take a closer look at the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding's career so far.
Teahupoo was foaled on February 18th 2017 and is out of the French mare Droit D'Aimer.
Two early hurdle race victories at Enghien, by four lengths and eight lengths, underlined his early promise.
By the popular Haras de la Tuillerie sire Masked Marvel, Teahupoo has four siblings and only one of them has won.
He started out with Gabriel Leenders in France and made his debut in a 2m2f hurdle race at Auteuil in October 2020, which he won nicely.
It???s no surprise that he was quickly bought by powerful connections off the back of that success and he made his debut for Gordon Elliott the following January. An impressive winner at Fairyhouse that day, he went on to score by 15 lengths.
Elliott decided to run him in a Grade 3 event at the same track next time and the result was another comfortable victory.
Willie Mullins' Tax For Max couldn't live with him and Teahupoo landed the spoils at odds of 4/9.
A first career defeat was to come next but the winner Jeff Kidder did go on to win a Grade 1 at Punchestown, so the form worked out well. Teahupoo was a three-length second on the day and the quicker ground probably wouldn't have suited.
Making his seasonal debut in Naas' Fishery Lane Hurdle in November 2021, he gained his revenge on Jeff Kidder and also got the better of the previous season's Triumph Hurdle winner, Quilixios, who was 12 lengths behind in second.
Another impressive victory came in the Grade 2 Red Mills Trial Hurdle at Gowran in February but he didn't have the pace to mount a challenge in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and eventually finished ninth of 10 behind Honeysuckle.
Connections made the wise decision to step him up in trip for the Hatton's Grace Hurdle the following season and he came out on top by a narrow margin, at the expense of Klassical Dream.
That would prove to be the first of several Grade 1 victories for the gelding.
Going up in trip once again for the Galmoy Hurdle after that, he travelled strongly through the race and powered clear in testing conditions to score by 15 lengths.
Teahupoo catapulted himself into Stayers' Hurdle contention as a result of that success.
Many were critical of Davy Russell's ride at Cheltenham after that and he was beaten by less than a length back in third. He won a second Hatton's Grace en route to another Stayers' Hurdle bid and this time he won the big one with plenty in hand in 2024.
The Robcour-owned gelding has since gone on to win the Champion Stayers Hurdle at Punchestown twice, a third Hatton's Grace and was last seen winning the Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas.
