  • Listowel Betting Offers For Existing Customers

There are a wide range of existing customer betting offers available all year round and they really come into their own around the big events, such as the Listowel Harvest Festival. Below, we have rundown the key existing customer offers you can utilise.

    Money Back Specials

Money back specials see your stake returned as a free bet or cash if the horse you have backed does not win.

Usually, your horse has to finish second or second, third or fourth to be eligible for a refund but this will vary from bookmaker to bookmaker.

As always, you will need to carefully understand the terms and conditions of a money back special offer before placing your bet.

    Best Odds Guaranteed

Best odds guaranteed is a staple existing customer offer for horse racing betting although it is becoming less popular among bookmakers with some scaling back their offering.

There is still a wide range of bookmakers that have BOG which means that if the horse you have backed drifts in price by the start of the race, you will be paid at the bigger odds. it also means that if the horse you have backed shortens in price, you will be paid out at the odds you backed it at.

The time BOG kicks-in varies from bookmaker to bookmaker with some starting at 8am while others only run it from 11am. Also, with some, such as Paddy Power, you will have to opt-in to receive BOG so again, double check the T&Cs.

  • Read our full guide to best odds guaranteed bookmakers.
  • Price Boosts

Price boosts do what they say on the tin. Bookmakers, particularly the likes of bet365, will boost horses to better odds that you are unlikely to find among the regular prices of any other bookie.

    Extra Place Specials

Each-way betting is a key part of National Hunt racing so will naturally play a big role at the Listowel Harvest Festival.

The more places a bookmaker pays out, the better so look out for bookmakers like bet365 and William Hill are usually among the best for offering extra places on the big races.

    Listowel Horse Racing Tips

It is still too early to provide any specific tips for the Listowel Harvest Festival with just over two weeks to go.

Final declarations are expected 24 hours before each race so then you will have a clearer picture of the contenders.

We will update this page before then and provide our expert tips from two-time Irish Field NAP table winner and irishracing.com editor Vincent Finegan.

  • Kerry National Trends

While the fields may not be clear for the big races there are some trends from past Kerry Nationals that can inform your selections.

It’s no surprise that the Kerry National is the main event of the week and it’s a race that all the top trainers want to win. This year’s race will surely be a fascinating puzzle to solve with plenty of intriguing candidates to consider.

There was a substantial prize fund of €188,000 on offer last year and the first-place prize is certainly worth winning. Usually this results in a fiercely competitive race so we’ve had a look at some key recent trends which could help you find the winner.

    Low weights for the win

Eight of the last 10 winners carried less than 11st and in some cases significantly so. Gordon Elliott’s Wrath Of Titans won it back in 2016 and the seven-year-old carried just 9-3.

Two-time Cheltenham Stayers’ Hurdle winner Flooring Porter carried 11-4 when winning last year but that’s an exceptional case. You don’t get many Grade 1 winners of his ability lining up too often and he took full advantage of a generous chase mark.

The only other horse to win carrying in excess of 11st is 2018 scorer Snow Falcon. Noel Meade’s gelding also had some excellent graded hurdles form, which perhaps suggests that the fences at Listowel are easier to jump than most.

A race for the big names

Ireland’s five leading Jumps trainers have all won the race in the last decade, with Gordon Elliott and Joseph O’Brien both winning two each. This makes them worth keeping an eye on, should they send any representatives over for the race this year.

In perhaps the most surprising statistic of all, Willie Mullins has only won it once in the last decade. This is probably explained by the fact that it’s a fairly quiet time of year for him. His summer horses will be going on holiday soon and his autumn/winter horses won’t be ready.

    Age isn’t just a number

Younger horses with scope for improvement have thrived in this race in recent years. Joseph O’Brien even won it with a five-year-old back in 2022, as 142-rated Busselton came out on top. Veterans have struggled in recent years as no 10-year-olds have managed to win.

The oldest winner in the last decade is the trend-busting Flooring Porter, taking the race in 2024 at the age of nine. Five of the last 10 winners were seven-year-olds and that could be pertinent information to consider.

    Not one for favourites

This statistic probably isn’t the most indicative but it’s certainly interesting that the favourite has failed to oblige in each of the last 10 renewals. The shortest SP for any winner in the last decade is 6/1, although the biggest-priced winner was only 14/1.

    Factors to Consider When Betting

Before then, there are some general tips to consider before making your selections for the Listowel Harvest Festival.

These are rules you should consider before backing any horse, such as form of the horse, jockey and trianer and course form.

For Listowel specifically, it is worth noting that historically there is no draw bias in flat racing while the jumps course favours a front-running type.

In terms of trainer success at Listowel, it is the usual names with Aidan O'Brien having a 30% success rate on the Flat while over jumps, Willie Mullins has a 24% win rate.
