Connor King has made a dream start to his training career with the two horses in his care, Oscars Brother and Grey Jude, both winning in the hands of his brother Dan this season with the prospect of plenty more to come.

Oscars Brother has taken really well to fences this term and completed a hat-trick at Navan yesterday with an impressive victory in the Grade 2 William Hill Ten Up Novice Chase.

King, who was twice champion apprentice jockey on the Flat and is currently working for trainer Paddy Twomey, is also looking forward to sending Grey Jude over fences.

The Capri gelding won a maiden hurdle at Cork in November and went close to following up when runner-up to Raise You Up at Naas on Saturday.

“He'll make up into a good staying chaser. He's only five,” said King, who runs a small training operation close to Twomey’s yard in Golden, County Tipperary.

When asked if he is open to more horses, he replied: “At the moment, I’m happy enough with what I have, but in time I’d love to give it a proper go.

“I like Dan riding for me and think he’s a really good rider. Hopefully, in time, we can expand a little bit and see what happens then.

“I also like the Flat and that’s what I’ve known from the start. I’ve breezed a couple of horses the last few years and have a nice Havana Grey filly to breeze this year. More than likely, she will go to Fairyhouse.”
