Trainer Paddy Twomey is enjoying a fruitful 2025 campaign, including a winner in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot with St Leger hopeful Carmers.

On our recent trip to visit the yard in County Tipperary, Emma Nagle got the lowdown on more exciting prospects to come.

Purple Lily - Transformed and Ready

Declared for the Listed Lenebane Stakes at Roscommon on Tuesday, July 1, 7.38pm

She's a different filly this year to last year. Last year she looked well and she was able to do what she was doing but over the winter she has transformed into a strong powerful filly and I think she can have a very good year. I would like to have a bit of ease in the ground. It wouldn't have to be soft but just on the easy side of good before she'd run. Purple Lily is ready to run and she's in great form.

City of Memphis - Future Group 1 Contender

Entered in the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes, July 10 at Leopardstown City Of Memphis is a filly that we bought from Katie Walsh last year at the Breeze Ups and from the get-go she's shown talent. She ran a great race on her second start of her life to run to a rating of 106. We'd look at something like the Brownstown Stakes in early July for her. I think she's a filly that hopefully can win a group race pretty soon and I think she should be competitive at Group one level.

Super Sox - High-Class Sprinting Prospect

Entered in the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes, July 10 at Leopardstown Super Sox won the Platinum Stakes last year. She's a high-class filly who looks like she can make a top sprinter in the second half of the year. We're hoping to start her off in the next three or four weeks and maybe traveling abroad later in the year.

Beechwood - Group Race Potential

Entered in the Group 3 Stanerra Stakes, July 9, Fairyhouse

Beechwood was a great addition last year she improved every run culminating in a pretty emphatic success in the Oyster Stakes in Galway. I think a mile and a half is the start of her optimum trip. She can be very competitive in decent group races and I'm looking forward to the second half of the year with her. I don’t want the ground lightning-quick for her.
