‘Unbeaten in two starts’ - Saturday's Irish Lucky15 racing tips Gowran Park stages a competitive seven-race card on Saturday, a total of 86 runners declared, including a field of 19 in the opening maiden hurdle and 14 in the feature Shamrock Handicap Chase. We've provided our best four bets from the fixture, including one for trainer Henry De Bromhead who bids to repeat last year's win on this card. Saturday's tips 13:58 Gowran Park - Bulgaden Castle 14:34 Gowran Park - Likealightswitch 15:08 Gowran Park - Marelly 16:18 Gowran Park - Champagne Mahler 13:58 Gowran Park - Bulgaden Castle Philip Rothwell's Bulgaden Castle has shown progressive form over hurdles this season and looks to have been found a very winnable opportunity. The five-year-old, who was placed in an Irish point last spring, looked in need of the experience when well held on his first two hurdles starts, but he's improved drastically since, finishing second at both Thurles and Punchestown and running to Racing Post Ratings of 113 and 115 respectively. He's been given an official mark of 115 since his last run and will be tough to beat this afternoon if running to that sort of figure. 14:34 Gowran Park - Likealightswitch The Adrian Sexton-trained Likealightswitch has been knocking at the door in maiden hurdle company of late and looks the pick in a race that lacks depth. The five-year-old mare has been placed in five of her seven starts over hurdles, showing a real liking for heavy ground the last twice when runner-up at both Clonmel and Fairyhouse. She only sets a fair standard with an official mark of 108, but Harry Sexton takes off a valuable 7lb, which enhances her claims of a first career success. 15:08 Gowran Park - Marelly Philip Rothwell can double up on the card courtesy of Marelly, who is unbeaten in two starts at this venue. The nine-year-old won here for former trainer Eoin Christopher McCarthy off a mark of 101 in November 2022 and maintained his unbeaten record at the track when making all here in January off a reduced rating of 93. He failed to replicate that level when finishing a remote third at Limerick subsequently, but this place clearly brings the best out in him and he should give a good account in an open-looking handicap. 16:18 Gowran Park - Champagne Mahler Henry De Bromhead's Champagne Mahler looks set to repeat last year's win in the feature handicap chase, the eight-year-old having shaped like a return to winning ways was imminent when second at Naas last time. The selection ran out a convincing winner from the Rebel Gold (runs 3.08) in this corresponding event 12 months ago off a mark of 114 and, while he's now 11lb higher, he ran to a Racing Post Rating in excess of that rating when beaten three lengths at Naas 57 days ago. He's 2-3 at this track and Darragh O'Keeffe, who was reunited with him for the first time since last year's victory at Naas, is again in the saddle.
