1-2 for Joseph in the Bluebell Stakes There was more success for Joseph O’Brien in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Bluebell Stakes, over a mile and a half at Naas, with 25/1 outsider Snapretend leading home a one-two for the trainer. Stakes-placed three times earlier in the year, John Farrell’s homebred was prominent throughout under Jamie Powell and kept pulling out more in the straight to hold staying-on 11/10 favourite Beset by half a length. “I’m getting good chances and riding good horses,” said Powell, who was riding his second Listed winner in two days after winning on Michael O’Callaghan’s Bamako Beach here yesterday. “It was a great performance, I didn’t think she’d handle going that way at all. She was always just coming off the rail a little bit with me. “When Ryan (Moore, on Moments Of Joy, sixth) came to her, she was very tough and hit the line very well. “She was just always lugging out a little bit to her right, but she’s very genuine and she kept coming in the straight, so I was pleased.” On beating the O’Brien-trained favourite, he added “I’m not sure whether they’ll be too happy or not, but I am! “I ride a couple of bits of work for Joseph when he brings horses to the Curragh. I’m based with Johnny Murtagh and Michael O’Callaghan, it was nice to get the spare ride. “She’s very genuine and loves the slow ground. so there’ll be no issue going again before the year is out. I think she’ll be better going the opposite direction.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
