A strong British and Irish team feature among 24 horses still in the frame for Sunday's Prix de l'Abbaye Sole Power is Ireland's leading contender for Eddie Lynam having finished third and seventh in the last two renewals. Barry Lalor's mud-lover Maarek bounced back to form at Newbury and also comes into the equation while Tommy Stack's Cape Of Approval could also run. John Gosden's brilliant mare The Fugue has been given an entry in the Prix de l'Opera as an alternative to her engagement in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. She is one of four British-trained entries in the race, with Ralph Beckett leaving in Secret Gesture, the runner-up in both the English and German Oaks before finishing third behind The Fugue at York. Roger Charlton's Thistle Bird and the Paul Cole-trained Gifted Girl complete the potential raiding party. Dalkala and Sarkiyla are two significant contenders for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre and leading owner the Aga Khan. The 12-strong field is completed by Pagera, Tasaday, Red Lips, Sparkling Beam, Silasol and Eleuthera.
