23 Entries for Champion Hurdle The Willie Mullins trained Faugheen heads the list of 23 entries for this year's renewal of the £400,000 Stan James Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham on the opening day of the Festival on Tuesday 10th March. The current evens favourite remains unbeaten over hurdles after extending his record to nine straight victories in the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle at Kempton Park. Mullins has a total of six other entries including the 2011 and 2013 Champion Hurricane Fly. Annie Power, Arctic Fire, Diakali, Un De Sceaux and Vautour are the remaining entries from the powerful yard. Other Irish trained horses among the 23 are Jezki, Tiger Roll, Little King Robin and Plinth. The leading British trained contender The New One is also entered. He was hampered early on in last year's Champion Hurdle by the fatal fall of Our Conor before storming home to finish in third place behind Jezki and is currently second favourite for this year's race.
