The seven-day Listowel Festival gets underway this afternoon with the ground set to be just on the easy side of good following recent rain.

The going at the North Kerry venue is currently described as good, good to yielding in places, for National Hunt racing, while the Flat course is yielding.

There was a further 3mm of rain overnight, although the weather forecast is mainly dry today with the risk of some showers.

Further rain is forecast for tomorrow.

The highlight on today's seven-race National Hunt card is the €40,000 Kerry Group Handicap Chase at 4.50pm, with the action commencing at 2.10.
