Onefortheditch (3/1f) was an all-the-way winner of Division 1 of the Focus Capital Handicap Hurdle in Limerick for Eamonn Gallagher and Calum Hogan.

The seven-year-old mare extended her advantage on the approach to the home straight and had her rivals in trouble before the penultimate flight.

She got in close there and her margin was reduced coming to the last at which she wasn't foot perfect either. One of her closest pursuers, Survivors Sister departed there and, although Hakensack attempted to reel the winner in, she had done enough to pass the post with three and a-half lengths in hand.

Runner-up Hakensack went off a 5/1 chance and was six-and-a-half-lengths clear of gambled-on Ladyeze Man (9/1).

“I’m always giving out that in the '100s', every time she ran she was getting beat by lower ones, but she’s very consistent,” said Gallagher.

“She should be left off for the winter, but she was in such good form, you couldn’t.

“When she ran here the last day, she went on the soft ground so I said we’d come back at Christmas over two-miles-three (furlongs).

“Darragh O’Keeffe did a great job on her, but I wanted 7lb. I said to Calum that usually she’d be sitting and finding one or two too good, so to go on and go a gallop.

“I was looking at halfway and I said maybe I gave him the wrong instructions, but she’s tough.

“Her mother won here, Backinthere, and she was my first winner. I’ve very lucky owners, the Sheehans, and they’ve been great to me.

“I only have two to run on the track, this one and God Help Us, and both of them have won this year.

“Usually she gets her break, so I don’t know. Hopefully, there is a chase in her during the summer, but she deserved that.”
