Former top bumper performer A Dream To Share will switch back to hurdling in the coming weeks following a disappointing run in his first Flat handicap at Naas earlier this month.

The JP McManus-owned gelding completed the rare feat of winning five times in bumpers including the Grade 1 Weatherbys Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in 2023.

However, he didn’t set the world alight in two hurdle runs last season and was switched to a Flat campaign this year winning an amateur rider’s maiden at Leopardstown.

He was given a controversial high rating on the Flat and finished in rear when eventually testing his mark of 103 in the €100,000 Colm White Bookmaker Beggar’s End Handicap at Naas.

“A Dream To Share will probably go for a maiden hurdle somewhere in the next fortnight. He is fine, not a bother after Naas and came out of the race well,” said McManus’ racing manager Frank Berry.

"His hurdling will have to improve but maybe he is in better form now, so we'll see how we go. We'll hope for the best.”
