Seeyouallincoppers and Mick Darcy took the three-year-old maiden hurdle over two miles at Roscommon by the scruff of the neck to run out comprehensive winners.

The gelding was always in the front rank and Darcy drove him over the last two flights as the pair hit the line four and a half lengths to the good over Ballyglasheen

The winner was returned at 13/2 and foiled a gamble on the runner-up who was punted from 16/1 to 8s. Sweet Lana was four lengths further back in third at 14/1.

Successful trainer Paul Flynn said: “He wasn’t over schooled. We schooled him back in March. It sounds a long time ago but we stopped with him for a while. When he went back to it he took to it even better.

“He’s no world beater but he looks like he’ll improve a lot, he’s still weak. We’ll look for another three-year-old hurdle for him and he might go back to the flat. Next year he’ll go on soft ground. It wasn’t the strongest race.

“It’s great to see Mick back riding and hopefully he’ll get some success. He had a few problems but he got them sorted out. He had to work to get back and he deserves this.”

There was early trouble in this race as 10/3 joint favourite Frozen North unseated at the first and San Miedo fell at the second bringing down Chelsea Hotel
