ADMIRAL HOLDS SINGAPORE ENTRY Compton Admiral, winner of the 1999 Coral-Eclipse Stakes, heads seven British entries for the Singapore Cup at Kranji on March 3rd. The five-year-old has been off the course since fracturing a bone in his off-fore knee in the Juddmonte International at York 17 months ago. Gerard Butler`s charge also has the Dubai World Cup and Sheema Classic at Nad Al Sheba as options for the horse. The trainer has also entered Compton Bolter, fifth in the 2000 Guineas and winner of the Listed Churchill Stakes at Lingfield in November, in the 10-furlong contest, worth around #386,000. Lermontov, who finished second to Aristotle in the 1999 Racing Post Trophy for Aidan O`Brien, has joined David Nicholls and has been entered for the race. The other British-based entries are the Greg Chung-trained Aiwai, Gold Academy (Richard Hannon), Temeraire (David Cosgrove) and Zetland Stakes winner Worthily (Mick Channon). The race has attracted an entry of 76 horses, including Francois Doumen`s globetrotter Jim And Tonic and Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe fifth Hightori. Ouzo, who beat Jim And Tonic in the inaugural Singapore Airlines International Cup last year, is one of 28 home entries. The Singapore Turf Club will announce on February 1st which horses have been selected to run along with a reserve list.
