Enigma makes it two from two with tough performance The Willie Mullins-trained Emerald Enigma prevailed after a terrific duel with Working Class Hero in the concluding bumper at Punchestown this evening. The Buck’s Boum mare went to post 11/8 favourite to follow up on her debut win at Cork in March. She was to the fore throughout in the two-miler but was headed by Working Class Hero when she swung wide turning for home. Patrick Mullins had a willing partner in the closing stages and she edged the verdict late on, to score by a head. The winner rider said afterwards:- “She’s very tough. She was green without a rail to run against and I couldn’t pull my stick and get her to go forward. “Once she got the rail she went forward. “I won on her dam at the Galway festival. We thought she was very good but she got hurt on her next run. It’s a nice pedigree. “I’d imagine she’d go out in trip no problem, she’s probably not the quickest but she’s very tough. “You could wait until Gowran for the Listed bumper, give her a little break now. We’ll see what the boss wants to do.”
