ADMIRAL SET FOR LINGFIELD COMEBACK Compton Admiral, off the course since breaking down in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York in 1999, is set to make his comeback on the all-weather at Lingfield Park next month, it was revealed today. Gerard Butler`s Coral-Eclipse Stakes winner fractured a bone in his off-fore knee when finishing fifth behind Royal Anthem on the Knavesmire. His horse has recovered and the Blewbury trainer is aiming the five-year-old at the Winter Derby Trial on February 24th. 'He has been off since August 17th, 1999 and it has been a long road back with him but it is the intention is to run him at Lingfield,' Butler said. 'If all goes well there are two options for him. Depending on what runs he could go for the Dubai World Cup or the Sheema Classic.' Butler reports his charge in good order and added: 'He was operated on in Sweden and had two titanium screws put through his leg to pin it and it is a case of so far so good with him.' Stable-companion Saddler`s Quest, unbeaten in his three starts to date but not seen out since winning last year`s Lingfield Derby Trial having suffered a stress fracture of his cannon-bone, is also poised for a comeback. 'Saddler`s Quest has been back in training for quite a while and we will consider the Sheema Classic for him,' said Butler. The colt was developing into a promising stayer before injury cut short his campaign and Butler said: 'He will have a prep run and then go for the Coronation Cup. 'He has strengthened up and hopefully got a bit quicker. 'He has won all his races with give underfoot but I don`t think soft ground is necessary.'
