ARC INCLUDED IN WORLD SERIES

This year`s Emirates World Series will include the Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barriere for the first time, it was announced today.

The Longchamp showpiece, which will be run on October 7th this season, will be the seventh contest of the 12-race series which begins with the Dubai World Cup on March 24th.

The Arc, regarded by many as the ultimate middle-distance test on the Flat, had not been part of the first two runnings of the series.

World Racing Championships chairman James Bassett III explained: 'At the launch of the Emirates World Series in March 1999, France Galop had always made it clear that they wished to be incorporated in the championship.

'However, the integration of the Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe would be subject to the wishes of a new sponsor, at that time not confirmed.

'With the generous agreement of both France Galop and Lucien Barriere, we are now delighted to have received confirmation of the Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe completing our planning process for stage one of the Emirates World Series.

'We welcome their entry and we look forward to an exciting third Championship year.'

Godolphin`s Daylami was the first Emirates world champion in 1999 and the Dubai operation followed up with Fantastic Light last year.
