ASCOT ALL CLEAR

Today's English meeting at Ascot has beaten the threat of waterlogging.

After a dry night, racing was given the go-ahead at an early-morning inspection.

"We had no rain overnight and there are no problems," said clerk of the course Nick Cheyne.

"We just wanted a dry night and that is what we had. The going is soft on the chase course, soft but heavy in places on the hurdles track."

Today's jumps card features four races due to be shown live on BBC1, including the £20,000-added Daily Telegraph Chase at 3.10pm.
